What Are the Kleshas?

Rooted in the philosophy of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the Kleshas are the mental states that cause suffering and keep us from experiencing our true nature.

Understanding and overcoming these obstacles is key to living a life of freedom, clarity, and joy.


The five Kleshas include:

  • Avidya (Ignorance): The fundamental misunderstanding of the true nature of reality.
  • Asmita (Egoism): The sense of individuality that separates us from others.
  • Raga (Attachment): The craving for pleasure and material things.
  • Dvesha (Aversion): The aversion to pain, discomfort, and the unknown.
  • Abhinivesha (Fear of Death): The instinctual fear of change and loss.


This workshop is designed for practitioners of all levels—whether you're new to yoga or have been on the mat for years, you'll find deep value in this experience.

Movement and Asana Practice: Through dynamic and restorative asanas, we'll explore how the Kleshas manifest in the body and how we can use movement to release these blockages.


Pranayama (Breath Work): Breath is a powerful tool for transformation. We'll practice various pranayama techniques to calm the mind, balance the emotions, and clear the path for deeper self-awareness.


Meditation:
